Creating your dream outdoor living area in the tight spaces offered by modern home blocks can be a great challenge. With the large amount of time peoples spend  enjoying Perth’s magnificent endless  summers, having functional and stylish outdoor living spaces features high on most peoples wish lists.

Austin Developments have created custom designed Cabanas, Gazebos, Pool Huts and Alfresco areas in all sorts of spaces, both big and small. This particular project we recently completed was very limited with space at the end of the swimming pool, a very common trend these days.

Our challenge was to create a feature pool hut which could fit in the space while being both stylish and highly functional.

The clients’ requirements were met by creating a raised decking which met the pool’s water edge and accommodated an existing water feature. The water feature included an integrated water blade in the face of the feature stone clad face and plumed under the new timber deck frame.

The timber decking has steps either side which can be used as seating along with hanging your feet across the front face of the deck into the pool.

The end result was a perfect area that ticked all the clients’ requirements and with a little planting and greenery would make any magazine feature.

This brick, tile and timber cabana is one of those many projects before Christmas that the client was desperate to get finished prior to the start of the Perth festive season. Delivering the project on time involved our team working around the clock and on weekends.

Working on a construction sitting on the edge of an in-ground pool takes a little more care and time than a construction on more traditional footings. This all contributes to the complexity of such a project.

The roof tiling of this Perth poolside cabana had to be completed prior to the completion of the pool to ensure no debris would damage the pool liner.  This also required  a creative scaffolding setup inside the pool for safety of our team before the pool was finished .

Of course a project like this requires approval by local municipal authorities and the final challenge on this project was the council approval of the structure which we were able to assist in getting signed off quicker – great news for the client who otherwise would have not been able to enjoy their backyard paradise over their Christmas break.

Of course this is all in a days work for our Austin Developments team who can foresee and overcome many of these issues with planning and good project management.

The end of February marks the end of Perth’s summer – though with another week of temperatures in excess of 35 degrees that seems hard to believe.

Luxury Perth Poolside Cabana

The pool looks like a water feature that goes under the decking... and it does.

If you think you do not have room for that new alfresco or outdoor entertaining area you always wanted, think again. Chances are Austin Developments have seen it all before and we love a great challenge.

On this particular project the client desired additional outdoor entertaining space. The challenge was the long lap pool directly out from the rear doors – right where the alfresco was to go.

This problem had us scratching our heads for a while but once again we came up with a solution with which the client was thrilled.

To solve this problem we suspended a timber decking over the lap pool to create the additional floor area and then built up the boundary wall to support the new alfresco roof which looks like it has always been there.

Now the client’s children have grown up and don’t need such a large lap pool. The new outdoor alfresco area has a relaxed comfortable sized entertaining space and a large water feature / plunge pool appears to flow underneath you when you are standing on the deck…and it does.
